Technology students gain valuable insight from industry professionals
Junior and senior technology students have had the opportunity to listen to and question visiting industry professionals during the past two weeks. The lecture series is designed to stimulate authentic learning connections with their present studies.
Managing Director of Brio Group, Mrs Belinda Vesey-Brown presented a series of workshops to Year 10 Multimedia and Interactive Technologies students. The workshops outlined how her creative team utilise the design process for rebranding and revitalising a company’s position in the digital marketplace. Mrs Vesey-Brown led an exceptionally interesting discussion on today’s creative design and digital thinking processes associated with delivering print and online communication. The workshops align with our students’ current interaction and visual design assignment to produce an entrepreneurial product or service.
Mr Alex Cummings and Ms Taylor Deen from Ideate Films presented their creative practice to Year 11 Information Technology
Systems students outlining client-based commercial and narrative production. The workshop focused on current industry trends, working with client design briefs and advanced post-production processes. Year 11 students are presently designing commercial explainer videos for social media.
CEO of KND Digital, Mr Jason Hawkins provided a guest lecture to Year 12 Information Technology Systems students on large-scale redesigning processes for technology systems and investigating ways to improve user experience processes for client businesses.
The importance of inspiring students through career role models and leaders cannot be overestimated. By providing a realistic view of professional working life and industry conditions our students are better equipped for the various industry experiences that await them in their future careers.
The Technologies Faculty would like to sincerely thank the industry leaders for imparting their expertise with our students and staff. Parents or other members of the community who are interested in being involved by presenting workshops or lectures on digital design, information technology or media communications are encouraged to contact the Technologies Faculty.
