Fathering an Adolescent Girl: The What and How

This seminar series is open to fathers with daughters in Years 7 to 10, and will equip fathers with information and strategies to help them understand, relate to and communicate with their daughters.

Reflecting the School’s commitment to engaging and strengthening our partnership with parents, we are delighted to offer a seminar series developed specifically for fathers—Fathering an Adolescent Girl: The What and How.

The two-part series will feature presentations and discussions in a relaxed, engaging and fun environment. Refreshments will be provided, and each participant will receive a booklet containing key information discussed during the seminars.

6.30 pm to 8 pm, Tuesday 27 August—The What

  • Why is my daughter changing?
  • What do I need to know?
  • Why does she act the way she does?
  • Key developmental issues for fathers

6.30 pm to 8 pm, Tuesday 10 September—The How

  • How to manage your daughter’s emotions
  • How to communicate effectively
  • How to stay connected
  • How to prepare your daughter for life beyond school
  • How to encourage positive emotions
  • How to father effectively

Ms Jody Forbes, Director of Student Counselling, will deliver the seminars. Mrs Jody Forbes has worked at Girls Grammar for 15 years and has worked closely with fathers in supporting their daughters.

Registration is essential and attendance at both sessions is recommended.
