Join us on Tuesday 9 November for an interactive Zoom discussion with two inspiring Grammar Women—Walkley Award-winning journalists, Ms Lenore Taylor (1981) and Ms Ali Rae (2005).
With Girls Grammar alumnae living around Australia—and in all corners of the world—we have decided to hold this event virtually, to make it easier for everyone to ‘connect’ and enjoy this thought-provoking discussion.
Lenore and Ali, in conversation with the Principal, will share personal insights into why truth, facts and robust journalism is more important than ever before.
Lenore Taylor (1981)
Lenore Taylor is Guardian Australia‘s editor, a position she has held since 2016. She has won two Walkley Awards and has twice won the Paul Lyneham award for excellence in press gallery journalism.
After graduating from The University of Queensland, Lenore began working as a journalist at The Canberra Times. She then joined the Sydney Morning Herald, initially as a national affairs correspondent, before becoming their chief political correspondent. Lenore was appointed Guardian Australia‘s first political editor in 2013, and become editor three years later.
Ali Rae (2005)
Ali Rae is a multimedia journalist and filmmaker at Al Jazeera English. She has covered stories in Latin America, southern Africa and the Middle East, and is currently the presenter of All Hail, a program dedicated to explaining the social, economic and political forces that hold power in everyday life.
Among Ali’s numerous accolades are her selection by the International Women’s Media Foundation for a fellowship to cover under-reported regions, three Lovie Awards for European Internet Excellence and an Australian Walkley Award for current affairs reporting.
