Major Kate Clarkson credits Girls Grammar with transforming her from a shy teenager into a bold leader, becoming the first female Cavalry Officer to join the Royal Australian Armoured Corps in a combat role.

Her first posting was to a famed Light Horse unit, Queensland’s 2nd/14th, based at Brisbane’s Gallipoli Barracks.

Kate entered Royal Military College, Duntroon, in 2012 after an 8-year teaching career and knew immediately she had found her calling.

`I like to think I was a good teacher, but I know I’m a better army officer,’ she says.

Watch Kate on manoeuvres, below, as she talks about the changing face of modern warfare, and how Girls Grammar prepared her for a life of service.
