Art Force Awards

Holly Eddington (9B) has been recognised in the 2019 Art Force Awards, winning the prize for best artwork in the 18 Years and Under category. Holly received the award for her piece, Carindale Cats, at a presentation evening at Brisbane City Hall, where she enjoyed listening to presentations from well-known street artists.

Organised by Urban Smart Projects, the Art Force Project showcases local art works in a public setting by using traffic signal boxes (TSB) as a canvas. The project helps bring creativity and colour to local neighbourhoods, while also preventing graffiti. Carindale Cats was Holly’s second TSB painting and she looks forward to her next project, an Energex box, which is twice the size of a regular TSB.

‘Art plays a large part in my life and I believe it is important for everyone to express their creativity. Visual Art has been my favourite subject since Year 7 and I look forward to continuing my art studies in the senior years,’ she said.
