The inaugural Curious Me Showcase brought together Year 9 students, their house group teachers, and guests for an inspiring afternoon of innovation, empathy, and action. Held in the Louise McDonald Room, the event marked the culmination of the Curious Me program—a partnership between Brisbane Girls Grammar School and Future Anything, designed to empower students to explore real-world issues and create meaningful solutions.

Throughout the year, Year 9 students engaged in the Curious Me journey. They began by exploring the world around them, identifying issues that matter to them—from sustainability and wellbeing to community and inclusion. Through the stages of empathy, ideation, and action, students tested ideas, built prototypes, gathered feedback, and refined their pitches, transforming curiosity into tangible, purpose-driven innovation.

The showcase featured finalist teams presenting their projects to a panel of judges, including:

  • Adele Laughton, CEO of the Queensland Social Enterprise Council
  • Chantelle Moynihan (BGGS 2010), founder of internationally renowned beauty brands
  • Jane Hailes (BGGS 1998), Chief Financial Officer of Brisbane Girls Grammar School
  • Mr Shane Skillen, Head of Learning Innovation and Design
  • Ms Steph Thomas, Associate Dean of Students

Each team had 90 seconds to pitch their idea, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, and courage. Judges commended the students on their depth of thinking and the real-world relevance of their projects.

Congratulations to the joint winners of the 2025 Curious Me Showcase: atMOSSphere—Zara Beveridge and Lucinda Allen (9G), and Snap Specs—Felicity Le (9B).

Both projects impressed the judges with their creativity, innovation, and potential for real-world impact. Their work exemplified the curiosity, empathy, and purpose that lie at the heart of the Curious Me program.

The event concluded with warm applause as students were celebrated for their innovation, empathy, and resilience—qualities reflecting the Brisbane Girls Grammar ethos of curiosity and lifelong learning.
