From the Head of Junior School
We have had an energetic and joyful start to the year, with the infectious enthusiasm of our Years 5 and 6 students spilling across to the senior years.
If your daughter has arrived home with tired arms, it’s only because waving across Gregory Terrace to the `big girls’ has become a favourite activity from the verandahs of the Junior School Building. Every acknowledgement sparks another round of smiles and frenzied waving that has been quite heart-warming to witness.
The Years 5 and 6 girls have settled well into their classrooms and routines and are clearly looking forward to building connections with their older Grammar sisters.
Specialist lessons have started, as have bespoke programs to guide the girls on leadership, wellbeing and successful learning that will set them up for a smooth transition to Year 7 and beyond. Co-curricular programs are underway too, with 25 activities for the girls to choose spanning music, sport and clubs.
It was a pleasure to welcome parents back into the Junior School this week for our Parent Evenings to meet School leadership and teachers, as well as spend time with fellow parents, building the Girls Grammar community.
It has been a rare experience for us all to share this new beginning together, and we look forward to an exciting year of firsts.
Head of Junior School, Ms Karen McArdle
