QGSSSA Cross Country Championships

The atmosphere was buzzing on Saturday, May 23, as our school proudly took part in the annual QGSSSA Cross Country Championships at John Paul College. The event highlighted not only the athletic talent within our team, but also the strong sense of community and culture that continues to shape the Cross Country program at Brisbane Girls Grammar School.

Backed by enthusiastic support from students, families, and staff, our runners delivered an exceptional performance, securing an impressive 2nd place overall. The pride in representing our royal blue colours was evident throughout the day, with determination shown by every athlete and unwavering encouragement from supporters lining the course.

We are excited to celebrate winning an age group pennant in the 16 years, recognising the talent, dedication, and teamwork within our squad. Even more encouraging was the number of athletes who achieved personal best performances compared with their 2025 season times, a reflection of the commitment and growth demonstrated across the year.

A huge thank you must also go to our coaching staff, whose passion and support continue to guide and inspire our students both on and off the course. Their efforts play a vital role in the ongoing success of the program. Thank you to Chris Gale, Mrs Nadine Cameron, Dr Juliet Stone, old girls Lillian Wall, Phoebe Oliver, Darcy Basford, Jemima Morton, Audrey Duffield and Sophie Hunt. We couldn’t run this program without you.

As we celebrate the achievements of this championship, we also look ahead with enthusiasm to the upcoming athletics season. We encourage all students to get involved in middle distance events as we continue building momentum and embracing improvement.
