Cricket Update

Competition was fierce at this week’s QGSSA Cricket fixtures, played on Tuesday 5 March 2019. The Girls Grammar Open team played Sommerville House and managed to make 44 runs off their 14 overs. Despite a great opening stand from Alice Barker (9R) and Ravleen Kahlon (8B), Girls Grammar was defeated by Sommerville House who chased down the target score in 7 overs.

With their final game next week, the Open team aims to finish well against competition leaders, Brisbane State High School.

Both Division 1 teams secured strong wins this week. The 1A team defeated Sommerville House (1) (94 runs to 50), with strong performances from Bridget Morton (11B) and Grace Crilly (11E).

The 1B team played at Rangakarra Recreational and Environmental Education Centre. Despite losing six wickets, the girls were able to post a strong score of 84, including an impressive 14 runs from Carmen O’Connell (8E). Brisbane State High School (2) only made 62 runs due to the restrictive bowling from Kajal Mistry (7O) who took two wickets and only conceded 4 runs.

This week, the School’s 2B team enjoyed a bye, while the 2A girls experienced their first loss of the season to Brisbane State High School (1). They were defeated 75 runs to 73 and the two teams are now tied at the top of the ladder.

Congratulations to all girls who played this week and good luck in the final rounds.
