Earlier this week, the School hosted its annual Year 7 Parent Information Evening. It is always an evening of positive and lively discussion, and provides insights into any areas of potential concern for parents as their daughters transition to secondary school.
A consistent theme raised by parents on Tuesday night was the use of technology, and setting limits on how often and what their daughters are accessing online.
There are a number of resources that provide information about how parents can help manage their daughter’s screen time, restrict access to adult content and prevent the installation of particular apps.
Further, many articles provide insight into how to approach conversations with children about establishing clear boundaries around screen time, why it is important that they manage their use of technology, and tips on self-control and technology use.
Links to these articles are available to parents on the Student Care Resources page on Parent Portal. This page is updated regularly with content for parents, and I would encourage you to bookmark and reference the page throughout the year.
Thank you to all parents who attended Tuesday evening’s Parent Information Evening. For those who could not attend, or anyone who wishes to view the presentations, these are now available on Parent Portal.
