Congratulations 'Garage Girls' cast and crew
After months of rehearsals and preparation, the 2025 Senior Drama Production of ‘Garage Girls’ wrapped up on Saturday night.
Congratulations to the talented cast who brought to life this incredible and little-known story of pioneering Australian woman, Alice Anderson. She truly defied the stereotypes and social norms of the day to pursue her dreams and do what she loved. This tenacious young woman became the first female mechanic in Australia and opened a garage staffed by females. Not only did these women fix and service cars, but they also offered driving lessons for women. What an inspiration!
To complement the evening, audiences were treated to some delightful pre-show entertainment reminiscent of the 1920s era by talented BGGS singers and musicians. Thank you to these students and Mr Andrew Pennay for his support in making each night even more special.
Lastly, in a first for Brisbane Girls Grammar School, we are proud to share that the lighting and sound cues for this highly technical production were operated entirely by our students—a huge achievement, and testament to their dedication and commitment—congratulations Grammar Techies: Imogen Dingle (11W), Juliette Keeley (10E), Caitlin Trappett (12O) and Jane Wu (10B)!
Thank you to the staff, family, friends and community who came along to watch and support our young actors and technicians.
