Welcome to Bishbar Blue, the first edition of the School’s newsletter for Grammar Women.
During periods of uncertainty, we can often draw strength from our friendships and connections with others. It therefore seems timely to launch the School’s alumnae newsletter, Bishbar Blue, for our Grammar Women community to stay connected during this period where we are distanced, at least physically.
Over the coming weeks and months ahead, BGGS intends to share stories of our diverse alumnae, committed teachers and Grammar girls, and to recognise Girls Grammar’s past, present and future endeavours. We hope you find moments of interest, inspiration, optimism, and even humour, in each edition of Bishbar Blue.
This year, the 145th year of the School, will not at all be what we had envisioned. While we will miss connecting with Grammar Women at events and reunions around the world, we know the spirit of the Girls Grammar sisterhood will strengthen in other ways. It is this passionate spirit, often chorused in the chanting of the BGGS War Cry, from which the name Bishbar Blue has been adopted.
In this first edition, hear from Principal, Ms Jacinda Euler, read about Grammar Woman, Ms Manuri Gunawardena’s efforts to expedite COVID-19 research, view Dr Kristin Alford’s LIFE INTERRUPTED online exhibit, and watch with nostalgia our new Year 7’s speak about celebrating their first Foundation Day.
