Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award

On Friday 11 October, 23 Bronze qualifying girls and 16 Bronze practice girls departed for their Duke of Edinburgh expeditions at Marrapatta Memorial Outdoor Education Centre (Marrapatta). As a group we established goals before commencing the journey. These included developing our teamwork and navigational skills, and appreciating nature. We also completed our menu and environmental awareness plans, the safety and risk management forms, and equipment checklists.

On Saturday we planned our navigational routes and prepared our packs. After this, we were dropped off near Sterling’s Crossing to commence our 10km hike back to Marrapatta.

On Sunday afternoon, we arrived back at the School, exhausted but thoroughly satisfied with our efforts.

Thank you to Mr Ramsey, Ms Maclean, Mrs McIntosh, Mr Hopkins, Ms Oldfield and Mrs Luque for attending and assisting us in this expedition.
