On Friday 16 October, members of the BGGS Chess Club competed in the Queensland Inter-school Girls Chess Championships at MacGregor State School. The competition was fierce, but so was our spirit and determination. As all other chess tournaments had been cancelled this year due to COVID-19, we were delighted this tournament was able to proceed. BGGS Team 1, comprising me, Abbey Grice (12E), Ayesha Khagram (9G) and Rachel Watkins (10R), finished third. Rachel Watkins (10R) also won third place overall. Thanks to our Chess Club Coordinator, Mr Fabrice Alleaume, and to Mr Henry Yuan for accompanying us on the day.
