Week 4, Term 2

It has been a bustling week on campus for Grammar girls, as we near the halfway point for Term 2. The School was abuzz with Arts Fest performances, and we were thrilled to attend the Senior Drama Production, Abigail’s Coven. Our Year 7 and 9 girls have also completed NAPLAN testing.

This was the first year in which all Australian students completed NAPLAN testing online, and it is the final year of the tests being held in May (next year moving to March). Our students were well-prepared for the online format, and I thank all staff who have been involved in the organisation of the testing, for their thorough planning and for their care and support of the students.

The Senior Drama Production is always much anticipated, and already I have heard from parents, students, and staff who have enjoyed the experience of learning about Arthur Miller’s The Crucible through the eyes of Abigail Williams and her ‘coven’. Thank you to Drama Teacher, Mr Dervish-Ali, for organising such an enthralling production, which will showcase again tonight and tomorrow evening.

The School is also preparing to hold its first Marrapatta Open Day in four years on Sunday 12 June. The Outdoor Education Program is a beloved part of a Girls Grammar education, and we encourage all parents to attend and soak up the atmosphere of our Imbil campus and learn more from our Marrapatta staff, including our Director of Outdoor Education, Ms Kim Wood. Invitations to this event will be emailed to all parents early next week.

We are also preparing for Open Day at the Spring Hill campus on Friday 29 July. This annual event is open to our entire BGGS community, and we look forward to welcoming future, current, and past families, and students on this evening.

There are busy weeks ahead, but I know the girls’ energy and optimism will carry them through the rest of the term. I hope that the next few weeks will be a rewarding time for them.
