The QGSSSA Artistic Gymnastics Squad has been training hard since October last year for the QG Championships on Tuesday 29 March.
It has been amazing to see such enthusiasm and commitment from every girl as we prepare for the big day. We are especially delighted to see so many Year 7 students have taken an interest in the sport and are so proud of them for spreading their wings in the Girls Grammar community. It has also been great to welcome back many of the Year 8 and 10 girls after last year’s resounding success. We are looking forward to what they will bring to the team this year and in the foreseeable future.
Overall, it has been incredible to see the sense of community at training, with girls from all Year levels bonding with each other—the older girls sharing their experiences and passion for the sport has been insightful for all.
As of late, the team has been busy practicing skills and learning routines in preparation for the competition. The addition of a brand-new gymnastics space at the YMCA has assisted this progress, with the extra floor space and new equipment allowing girls to master skillful tricks and develop their strength in a fun and engaging way.
Despite the recent curveballs of COVID, and the extreme weather events, the gymnastics squad has remained resilient and united—we are eager to get back to training! We owe much of our strength to the coaches, co-ordinator, and our captains, who have provided their unwavering support throughout the season.
We are so excited about the upcoming competition and cannot wait to see how the team will perform.
