During the Easter holidays, I had the privilege to compete in the 2022 Class Clowns National Final as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Class Clowns is a national comedy competition for teens and over the past four years, it has allowed me to develop the art of stand-up comedy and perform in some of Australia’s finest theatres.
Since I was lucky enough to win both the 2021 and 2022 Queensland state finals, I have been able to represent not only my state but also Brisbane Girls Grammar School at this prestigious competition, twice. Unfortunately, I was unable to place or win at this year’s final, but I still enjoyed the experience and am proud of my performance.
I would like to thank the School and especially the Drama department for their support of this program and comedians, including Ruby Harvey (11G), who reached the 2022 QLD State Finals.
Stand-up comedy is truly a wonderful art that can be performed by anyone and provides so many benefits and opportunities. I highly encourage anyone interested in this competition to just give it a go and feel free to contact either me or Mr Dervish-Ali to find out more.
