Educate and Empower

The concept of body image is hardly new with history’s constant adaptation of societal ‘beauty standards’ in physique. However, with the world’s recent realisation of the ridiculous and unattainable demands of the ever-growing ‘standards’ of appearance, body image is at the forefront of conversation for youth worldwide.

That is why, considering the pressing importance of the body positivity movement, BGGS’ Educate and Empower met on Wednesday 2 November to discuss the concept of ‘body image’. The forum discussed a range of perspectives and ideas focusing on body image and its role today. The student-led discussion brought forward a wide range of information and perspectives about body image in an empowering way. It was a great experience to understand the diversity in body image and its impact collectively and on an individual level in a supported environment.
