Grammar Bus Pilot update

As we reach the end of Term 2, BGGS has reviewed the Grammar Bus Pilot, which commenced at the start of term to assess its success and make adjustments, where required, for Term 3.

One of the key reasons for the initiative is to reduce traffic congestion within our Spring Hill community and support a reduction of our carbon footprint over time. Unfortunately, we have not seen significant numbers participate in the pilot to date, and as such a review of the viability of the service on a permanent basis will be conducted towards the end of Term 3.

Evaluation of the pilot over Term 2 has found:

  • that the Ashgrove service is reasonably well utilised on the late morning and early afternoon run. These services will continue unchanged in Term 3
  • during Term 2, the early morning (6.30 am) and late afternoon (5.45 pm) buses for both the Ashgrove and Clayfield routes have received very low patronage and from Term 3, these buses will be discontinued
  • the Clayfield route has seen a very low uptake and, taking on board parent feedback, we have decided to combine the Clayfield route with a Teneriffe/New Farm loop to cover these additional catchment areas to assess if this improves participation.

The changes outlined above are based on comprehensive analysis of travel patterns and route coverage as well as feedback from the BGGS/BGS parent communities.

The Grammar Bus Pilot page on Minerva will be updated with service information, and further information will be emailed to parents, as soon as details are finalised.
