In 2023, the Grammar Women—Grammar Girls Mentoring Program will commence in Term 1 and conclude in Term 3. The timing of this program is designed to reflect our senior students’ curriculum experience while also aligning with the key dates in the process of voting for Year 12 leadership positions.
The program brings together BGGS young alumnae and current Year 11 students for a tailored holistic and career-focused mentoring relationship over the course of Terms 1 to 3. Alumnae peer mentors (Graduates from 2014–2019) will guide students in setting and working towards academic, personal, and post-secondary study goals, providing insights and guidance to support their mentees in their final years of senior school and beyond. The School will match small groups of students (two per mentor) with a suitable alumna, based on relevant interests, experiences, and self-identified areas of skill and development.
We invite expressions of interest from Year 11 students starting on Friday 14 October and closing on Friday 4 November. The program will commence on Wednesday 22 February 2023 and will conclude by Thursday 3 August.
Before signing up, students must commit to an orientation and then four meetings spaced across Term 1 to Term 3. The dates are as follows:
- orientation (lunch) Wednesday 22 February 2023
- session 1—Tuesday 28 February (5.30 pm to 7 pm)
- session 2—Thursday 20 April (5.30 pm to 7 pm)
- session 3—Tuesday 13 June (5.30 pm to 7 pm)
- session 4—Thursday 4 August (5.30 pm to 7 pm).
Meetings occur at the School and refreshments are provided during evening sessions.
If you are interested in being involved, complete this questionnaire and submit your answers, by 3 pm Friday 4 November. The questionnaire is available on Minerva from Friday 14 October, on the Mentor Program page (found under ‘Opportunities’ on the Co-Curriculum Minerva page). Please note: numbers are limited and the selection of successful applicants will be based on their match with an available alumna.
