Guest artist visits BGGS

Recently, we were lucky enough to receive a visit from Tokoton Taiko, a Brisbane-based drumming group. The Tokoton Taiko drummer explained to us the cultural significance of Taiko drumming and gave a spectacular performance for us, demonstrating his use of movement, rhythm, and sensitivity.

We were then able to all try using the drums—a difficult, but thoroughly enjoyable activity—and use various techniques on all the different drums. Everyone had such a great time and loved the opportunity to combine their passion for music, culture, and Japanese.

Sincere thanks to Dr Cate Campbell and the P&F Association for providing funding to support J-Club in bringing the Tokoton group to the School.
