Interhouse Swimming Carnival Results

Once again, spirits were high at the Interhouse Swimming Carnival, held on Tuesday 23 February at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre. Congratulations to Mackay for an outstanding winning performance on the day, followed by Hirschfeld (second) and O’Connor (third) in the Interhouse Swimming Cup for aggregate House points.

Congratulations to all girls who swam—participation is an important part of your commitment to your House. Well done to those who swam personal bests.

Congratulations to the age champions: Penny Bale (7O), 12 Years; Karla Rimmington (8L), 13 Years; Ava Tran (8G), 14 Years; Caitlin Small (9R), 15 Years; Niamh Bedggood (11R), 16 Years; and Amelia Cescotto (11O), 17 Years.

In other major trophies, Mackay secured both the Lt. Col. Plant Challenge Cup for individual events, and the Burrell Cup for relay events. Woolcock House won the Lifesaving Relay in a close contest with Hirschfeld.

Congratulations to Niamh Bedggood (11R) who was awarded the School Swimming Championship and 50m Freestyle Championship.

The QGSSSA Swimming Championships will take place next Wednesday 3 March and a detailed news article will follow next week to recap this event and the full Swimming season.

I hope all girls are looking forward to the Interhouse Cross Country later this term, and the opportunity to take your House’s spirit to Rangakarra.
