QGSSSA Swimming trials

I hope our competitors are looking forward to the Swimming trials event on Tuesday 22 February, and we are all ready to embrace the new format for 2022. Unfortunately, due to restrictions on school events, parent spectators are not able to attend this event. We hope to welcome parent spectators back next year.

Transport
Students must arrive at least 15 minutes before the bus departure time to have their name marked on a roll.

8 am—All competitors depart from the front of the School (meet in Victoria Park)
1.45 pm—All competitors depart Chandler to return to the School

If it is raining on Tuesday morning, students should go to the following rooms for roll marking:

Year 7—G21 and G22
Year 8—G23
Year 9—G24
Year 10—G31
Year 11—G32
Year 12—G33.

All girls travelling by private transport are required to submit a note to their House Group Teacher. The address is Brisbane Aquatic Centre, Sleeman Sports Complex, Old Cleveland Rd, Chandler. The arrival time is 8.30 am. Students will need to meet parents at 1.30 pm at the forecourt at the front of the Centre to sign-out of the event, if they are making their way home by private transport.

Uniform for travel
All students/competitors are to wear full Sports Uniform with black shoes and white socks, and school hat, to and from school, and on public transport. The sports cap should be worn when lining up to board the buses. Girls do not need to take formal hats to the Aquatic Centre. Bring a plastic bag, mask, and a towel.

At the venue
One of our goals is to create an environment that mirrors the QGSSSA Carnival. The wearing of correct and appropriate swimwear and swimming caps is required.

  • Students should wear BGGS swimming or racing swimsuits (not a Water Polo catsuit). Year 12 students may wear their ‘Senior’ swimsuits
  • Students must wear their House colour swimming cap when they are swimming. Please purchase these from the P&F Uniform Shop. This is to assist with judging.

Girls must only swim in a race where they are nominated, and ensure they are in the correct lane.

The Brisbane Aquatic Centre food vans will not be open on the day, and the available canteen is small. We encourage girls to bring their own lunch on the day. If food is purchased, girls must return to their seat to eat.

Students are not required to wear a mask while seated at the venue, or when moving to a race. Students must wear a mask at all other times, including when travelling on buses to and from the event.

Please note: if you are feeling unwell on the day with flu-like symptoms, please stay at home.
