School Charity Report 2021

As our final connection with Share the Dignity for the year, charity representatives, Ms Ami Reynolds and Ms Amelia Cartwells, facilitated a focus group discussion with the Year 10 Dignity Committee. There was much discussion about the alarming results of the 2021 National Period Pride Survey. Our students from Year 7 to 12 took part in this survey and have contributed to the largest ever collection of data regarding menstruation. Ms Reynolds and Ms Cartwells were very interested in the opinions of our Year 10 students as they consider how to enhance education about period stigma and reducing period poverty in Australia.

Our 2021 Service Captains, Jillian Campbell (12O) and Sierra Reza (12H), first connected with Share the Dignity after the 2020 Year 11 Leadership Days. In establishing Share the Dignity as our 2021 School Charity, they have led the Girls Grammar community in the August Dignity Drive and the ‘It’s in the Bag’ campaign, along with Student Council fundraising activities throughout the year. Thank you to everyone that donated a handbag. They have all been delivered to Bunnings and will be passed on to shelters and charities supported by Share the Dignity.

We are extremely grateful to the Mothers Group, who have shown great unity in their support for Share the Dignity. The charity expressed their gratitude for the Mothers Group donation of $10 000, which complements Student Council fundraising of $4085.15.

Congratulations to Jillian and Sierra and the Year 10 Dignity Committee for leading the Girls Grammar support for our 2021 School Charity.
