Dear Families
As Term 3 draws to a close, Year 12 are edging closer to the end of their schooling journey at BGGS. Term 4 is a significant time for the students in many ways: sitting the external exams; having final classes with their teachers; enjoying the company of their peers, and of course walking through the front gates of the School for the final time as Grammar girls.
We would like to take this opportunity to provide an overview of Term 4 events and timelines for Year 12.
Tutorial Program: Thursday 13 October—Wednesday 19 October
On these days, students are required to attend House Group for roll call and then attend tutorial lessons from Periods 1 – 4. From lunchtime, students are invited to depart for home study for the afternoon. Further information will be provided by the Dean of Studies, Mr James Keogh, at the beginning of Term 4.
Last Day of Classes: Thursday 20 October
The final day of classes requires students to attend House Group for roll marking and tutorials in Periods 1 and 3. Additionally, there will be a Prize Reading Assembly, a Year 12 Assembly, and a lunchtime BBQ. Students may depart for home study after lunchtime.
External Exams: Monday 24 October—Tuesday 15 November
Students should refer to the QCAA examination schedule.
Good Luck Breakfast: Monday 24 October 7 am—8 am in the Barbara Fielding Room
To wish Year 12 well, before their external English exam, students are invited to a breakfast.
Last Week of School: Monday 14 November—Friday 18 November
- Pool Party, Pizza Dinner, and Movie Night
Tuesday 15 November 3.30 pm—7.30 pm
Students will celebrate the end of exams with a pool party in the School pool, pizza dinner, and then stay on for a secret movie screening in the Gehrmann Theatre.
- Rangakarra Picnic
Wednesday 16 November 8.20 am—1.30 pm
Students will attend House Group to finalise lockers and School details before travelling, by bus, to Rangakarra for a picnic lunch. Upon arrival back to the Spring Hill campus at 1.30 pm, students depart for home to prepare for Valedictory Dinner.
- Valedictory Dinner
Wednesday 16 November 5.30 pm (student arrival)—9 pm
Students will receive their Graduate Certificate from Principal, Ms Euler. The Valedictory Dinner will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Brisbane. Further information will be provided by the School in Week 1 of Term 4.
- Speech Day and Annual Distribution of Prizes
Thursday 17 November 1.30 pm—3.30 pm
Students will attend Speech Day at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Brisbane. Further information will be provided by the School in Week 1 of Term 4.
Last Day of School
Friday 18 November 8.20 am—12. 30 pm
Students will have the final farewells from their Houses, Year 12 teachers, Principal, Ms Euler Welsh, and Senior Leadership staff. The Mothers Group will also offer Morning Tea on this day. Further details will be shared in Term 4.
We hope this information about what is to come for the Year 12 students proves useful for parents. Further details about each event will be communicated next Term, however, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact your daughter’s Head of House.
Year 12s are important members of our community and are valued role models for BGGS students. Year 12 are required to maintain regular attendance at School and a high standard of uniform presentation to finish well upon graduation.
We look forward to continuing to work with the Year 12s in their final Term at BGGS.
