Volleyball Update

The 2021 QGSSSA Volleyball season is off to an incredible start. All teams have played two rounds so far, with some teams playing three. We had a clean sweep of wins against St Margaret’s, and a mixture of wins and losses against our most formidable competitors, Brisbane State High School and St Peter’s Lutheran College. Teams have been training intensively under the guidance of our amazing coordinator, Ms McCorley, and excellent coaches, and we are confident that everyone’s hard work will pay off throughout the rest of the season.

Our goal for this season, closely aligning with the School’s motto, is to have united teams across all age groups, encouraging and supporting each other at training and competition. Since beginning our pre-season early in Term 2, we have seen all teams striving toward this goal, displaying great sportsmanship, and approaching games with readiness and positivity.

Finally, this year saw the start of the Social Volleyball Tournament, which aimed to provide an inclusive and social environment for anyone—regardless of grade or skill—interested in playing rounds of volleyball. The tournament is now up and running, and we’ve seen many girls enthusiastically participate in the past two sessions. A shout out to the defending champions in the senior division, Libero Bibero, and the Year 7 Backguardians, who are proving to be the teams to beat.

We hope our players are keeping their spirits high and are finding some time to stay active during this quarantine period. We look forward to seeing you all back on the court soon.
