Volunteer Thank You Function

On Wednesday evening, we hosted the Volunteers Thank You Function. It was a truly beautiful evening—on the lawn, with the School brightly illuminated and a gentle breeze blowing across the pool. It was a night for us to thank our Support Groups, parents, supporters and friends of the School.

Chair of the Board of Trustees, Ms Julie McKay (2000), spoke of the importance of community and contribution, and Trustees in attendance enjoyed the opportunity to speak with parents in a relaxed setting. For many Year 12 parents, it was an evening that drew to a close years of service and friendship in support of their daughters and her particular experience of Girls Grammar.

2021 has been a significant year for our Support Groups. While much could not proceed, so much was achieved. The P&F provided essential match funds and endorsement of our first Giving Day to support our Bursary Program, as well as providing tangible items such as new student furniture and a wonderful initiative to bring the ideas of many of our Clubs and Activities to life, including Chess clocks, an evening of Chinese cooking and a recording opportunity for our student songwriters. Events, such as the Mother and Daughter Dinner, were bigger than ever, and the Fathers Group expanded in numbers, not to mention the success of the double sausage sizzle at Open Day. Our Music Support Group have fostered friendship and fun at events throughout the year, our Rowing Group have woken before dawn to cook breakfast for our rowers and set up for regattas. And, of course, our Water Polo Support Group has continued to support the longest sporting season at the School!

Thank you to all who enliven the BGGS community—every day, in so many ways—by giving so generously of their time. You have been not only parents at our School, but most certainly our supporters and friends.
