Grammar Women win Blues Awards at UQ

Caitlin Hockings (2014) and Madeleine Williams (2016) with Mrs Daphne Pirie (Welch, 1949) MBE AOPast students and rowing captains, Caitlin Hockings (2014) and Madeleine Williams (2016), recently received Blues Awards from The University of Queensland (UQ), in recognition of their outstanding sporting achievements throughout the year. Caitlin, who is undertaking a Bachelor of Health, Sport and Physical Education, coxed the 2017 U21 Australian Rowing Team in the Trans-Tasman Series, and won Gold in the Open Women’s VIII at the Australian Rowing Championships, silver in the Women’s Youth VIII crew at the Interstate Championships and gold in the Women’s VIII at the University Games.

Maddie is completing a Bachelor of Engineering, and earlier this year won gold in the U23 Women’s Lightweight Quad and silver in the U23 Lightweight Double at the Australian Rowing Championships. Maddie also represented Australia at the World Championships in Bulgaria and placed sixth in the Women’s Lightweight Quad Scull.
