From the Dorothy Hill Observatory: Lunar Eclipse

If you missed the Lunar eclipse on Wednesday night, the School captured some images using the telescopes at the Dorothy Hill Observatory, located at the Marrapatta Memorial Outdoor Education Centre.

These images, taken at stages throughout the eclipse, were captured on a 106mm telescope with a six megapixel CCD camera, using a five second exposure time. We usually cannot take photos of the moon because it was far too bright for our camera. However, during the total eclipse, it’s just dark enough for us to see.
