Study Skills

As we make our way into the 2021 academic year, it is important for girls to consider the year ahead, establish their academic goals, and to think carefully about the particular habits and skills that they want to develop.

The time girls spend learning at home—revision and rehearsal—is just as important as time spent in the classroom, and there are a number of resources and strategies available to support students with such learning.

The School has developed a comprehensive suite of resources to support girls’ home learning and study, available under the Study Skills tile on Minerva, which can be accessed via your daughter’s Year level pages. In addition to Year-level specific resources, planning and organisational tools to help all girls, and useful videos that outline evidence-based strategies for study, the School has purchased a subscription to the Study Skills Handbook, developed by Dr Prue Salter, a specialist in study skills, from Enhanced Learning Educational Services.

The Handbook is available on the Study Skills tile and we encourage girls and parents to access, peruse and engage with the wide range of topics available.

At school, the girls will engage with the Study Skills tile, and the Study Skills Handbook, in House Group-based activities, Academic Assemblies and Academic Planning Meetings, in a developmentally appropriate way.

We wish the girls every success for the year ahead in their school and home-learning endeavours.
