Tertiary Pathways Resources

Parents are reminded that BGGS has its own Careers Portal designed to provide up-to-date information and resources to assist students in making well-informed decisions regarding their tertiary pathways. The portal is used to support the Year 10 Tertiary Pathways Program, and is also useful for all students looking for information about occupations, university programs, scholarships and open days. In the For Students area, the website provides opportunities for students to learn more about their career personality, skills and abilities, interests and work values, through a variety of quizzes and activities. Students can also find information about preparing job applications, resumes and personal statements.

In addition to supporting our students’ career development, the website contains resources for parents, including a Helping Your Teenager With Career Planning handbook, events calendar, newsletters and an array of research tools to ensure parents and students are informed about what is happening in the tertiary pathways landscape.

The Careers Portal is available for parents to access via Parent Portal and the Tertiary Pathways page on Minerva. Access to the Tertiary Pathways page is via Student Care.

A reminder too that the School publishes a monthly careers newsletter. This newsletter is emailed to students in Years 10 to 12 and is available to read on Parent Portal, the Tertiary Pathways page on Minerva and the BGGS Careers Portal. The August issue is now available.

Work Experience

For obvious reasons, work experience opportunities have been more difficult to find this year, but some of our students have been most resourceful in managing to secure holiday placements. Information regarding the BGGS Work Experience Program is detailed on Minerva and the Careers Portal. Students are invited to make an appointment with me for a preliminary discussion about the type of experience they’re hoping to gain and I will walk them through the process.
