On Friday 31 May 2019, the Sherwood Arrows skipping team performed for Year 7 students to launch the 2019 Jump Rope for Heart Foundation fundraising campaign. Founded by the Heart Foundation in 1983, more than 90 per cent of all Australian schools and eight million school children have participated in Jump Rope for Heart.
The program is designed to encourage a positive attitude towards exercise, healthy eating and heart health. Skipping is a great way to develop life-long healthy habits. Girls Grammar has been involved in this program for 24 years, using a fun and physical activity to raise awareness about, and fundraise to fight, heart diseases.
Throughout the fundraising period, students are encouraged to collect donations and participate in school activities, including skipping exercises in Health and Physical Education lessons and the ‘Jump-Off Day’.
The ‘Jump-Off Day’ will be held on Wednesday 19 June 2019 to celebrate the skills and knowledge students have learned.
To fundraise online, please sign-up to the Brisbane Girls Grammar School page and register your details.
