Service Update

The 2020 Service Captains, Gia Cayas (12G) and Eva Seet (12B), along with many other students participating in service activities, have had a very busy start to the year.

Service and charity group leaders have been appointed and these groups are excited to welcome new members throughout the year. Discussions about House Charities are currently being facilitated by House Service Captains and we look forward to sharing this information with students in the near future.

After deep consideration, the Service Captains have announced Rural Aid as the 2020 Brisbane Girls Grammar School Charity. Gia and Eva said that the events of recent months have reminded us all of the importance of a strong community and doing what we can for others.

This year we have witnessed the unifying efforts of Australians supporting others affected by the bushfires and floods, and Grammar girls want to show their support. That is why we have chosen the theme ‘rural recovery’ and to support the charity Rural Aid,’ they said.

Thank you to all families who have donated non-perishable food items to the Ecumenical Coffee Brigade Food Drive. These items will be donated to the service next week.

Second Chance members are busy seeking donations from their local community stores to support the barbecue at the International Women’s Day Concert tonight. All profits will be donated to the Second Chance Fundraising Committee to support women in South East Queensland who are victims of domestic violence.

All School Service information can be accessed by students on Minerva. This includes information about each service group, staff coordinators and meeting times and venues.

All in blue, we’re here for you.

Mrs Lynne Mungomery
Director of Service
