Welcome to Service at BGGS

The 2023 School Service and House Service Captains have had a busy week of planning for the new academic year. Congratulations to the School Service Captains, Avalon Blundell (12E) and Tung-Hi Ma (12H), who led a very productive workshop with the 18 House Service Captains on Wednesday afternoon.

Service and Charity Groups will have their first meeting over the next fortnight. There are several groups and activities that appeal to student areas of interest across all Year levels. Students can access information about each in the Co-curricular Handbook and on the Co-curricular Service pages. All can be found on Minerva. Students are welcome to attend without signing on and should check Minerva Daily News for meeting times. Year 7 students and students new to the School might like to attend with their buddy. They can also ask their House Service Captain, House Group Teacher, or contact me in the Main Building or via email for more information.

Community Service information for students in Years 10, 11, and 12 will be delivered in Ethics Assemblies over the coming weeks. Relevant handbooks can be found on Minerva on the Community Service page.

Members of the BGGS Community might like to engage with others by participating in the International Women’s Day Fun Run. Individuals can sign on for the 5 km walk independently, but please keep in mind that this popular community event appears to be selling fast. Please join ‘Team BGGS’ and assist us with our fundraising for the Mater Foundation. Walkers will meet at 7.30 am at the river side of the Piazza, and then move to the start line for 8 am. Please note the BGGS Cross Country team will be running in an earlier event on this day.

Avalon, Tung-Hi, and I are looking forward to having many members of the BGGS community connect through Service. Please contact me if you have any student enquiries throughout the year.
