Year 10 Community Service Program Update

Modifications to the Year 10 Community Service Program for 2020 were discussed with students in their Ethics lesson this week. Details from this presentation can be found on the Year 10 Community Service page on Minerva and parents are encouraged to discuss the modifications with their daughter.

Students are encouraged to complete up to 15 hours of Community Service or Community Contribution. The nature of the service activities completed will vary depending on the ability of the student and their family to support community interaction within COVID-19 restrictions.

Examples of Community Contribution might include participation in the School’s Notes of Hope initiative, the Gift of Music video, Driveway at Dawn ANZAC Day Service, or care and connection with neighbours, the elderly, healthcare workers and those in need during isolation. Students are encouraged to discuss Community Contribution ideas for the upcoming holiday break and Term 3 with their House Group Teacher.

From Monday 1 June, the following Community Service placements were permitted to resume at the provider’s discretion: community gardens; schools and Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC); and child care centres.

The following placements are not permitted under the current Queensland Government restrictions: charity stores; religious groups and church activities; and aged care homes.
