A Successful Start to the Hockey Season for Grammar Girls

Hockey in 2020 has been a season like no other. With disruptions to the season earlier this year, all Hockey players were determined and enthusiastic when meeting their new team members.

This year there are five BGGS Hockey teams—two junior and three senior—proudly representing Girls Grammar. Each Wednesday afternoon girls train at Rangakarra, and we begin each session with a full squad warm-up, during which it’s encouraged that people from different teams and Year levels interact to build unity within the whole squad.

This year our goals for the squad centre on unity and spirit. Although spectators have not been able to attend all games, the motivation at training and the Girls Grammar spirit is alive and well. So far this season our teams have been very successful. The Junior A remain undefeated, while the Open and Senior A (Blue) have only lost one game. The Junior Bs have tied one and won two games, and the Senior A (White) tied their first game.

Congratulations to Ashley Foster-McGinn (8B), Ellie Kendall (8G) and Olivia O’Brien (11R) on their selection in the Under-19 Metropolitan North Hockey team. We wish them all the best in the State Championships in September.
