QGSSSA Swimming Carnival

After months of training, 95 excited BGGS swimmers travelled to Brisbane Aquatic Centre for the QGSSSA Swimming Championships on Wednesday 4 March.

Swimmers were led by our enthusiastic and supportive Swimming Captains, Sarah McLeod (12E) and Lauren Stacey (12L), and supported by two busloads of excited Grammar girls with blue painted faces and a sea of BGGS banners.

The swimmers demonstrated great sportsmanship, encouraging each other, cheering for their peers and pushing themselves to their limit. The supporters also played a huge role in maintaining a positive atmosphere throughout the night.

BGGS placed fifth overall, with the 12, 13 and 14 year age groups placing fourth, 15 years age group placing third, the 16 years age group placing fifth and the 17 years age group placing sixth.

Special mention to Niamh Bedggood (10O), who placed first in the 15 years 50m Breastroke and Sarah McLeod (12E), who placed first in the 17 years 50m Backstroke.

Swimming training will recommence in Term 2, we hope students partake in training whether it is for fitness, social aspects or to improve for competition.
