P&F Association Term 2 Update

Term 2 has provided an opportunity for the 2019 P&F Association Committee to settle in and reflect on some of our aims for this year. Front of mind for the Committee is the financial and in-kind support we provide to the School and girls. The P&F gifts profits from the P&F Uniform Shop back to the School to support projects for the benefit of all our girls. Last year the P&F committed a major donation to launch the Exceptional Futures fundraising campaign in support of the new Science Learning Centre.

On a smaller scale, the P&F supports co-curricular activities through provision of funds and volunteers. This term, we have been actively workshopping how best to provide equitable support to as many activities as possible. These gifts may be not be as substantial as some of our infrastructure contributions, however, we believe they are no less important and go a long way to enhancing the sense of community within the School.

This term, the P&F and its Parent Support Groups have been busy planning and assisting in a number of events. The P&F assisted with the operation of the canteen at Rangakarra Recreational and Environmental Education Centre and the provision of refreshments at various fixtures and End-of-Season celebrations. Many thanks to the parents who volunteered at these activities. The Mothers Group contributed heavily to the School’s social calendar though the planning and preparation of several successful Year Level Parent Functions, while the Fathers Group hosted a dinner and discussion on the new system of senior assessment in addition to a two-day weekend retreat and working bee at Marrapatta Memorial Outdoor Education Centre (Marrapatta).

Many thanks to the Instrumental Music Department, supported by our Music Support Group, for providing us with some beautiful music this term. A highlight was the Cathedral Concert that supports The Wesley Palliative Care Unit. The Cathedral provides not only an intimate and inspiring setting, but brilliant acoustics.

The Old Girls Association (OGA) played an important part in the 40th Anniversary of Christmas Creek events—a service at St John’s Cathedral Memorial and a smaller gathering at Marrapatta. They also hosted a lunch and private tour of the Archibald Prize Exhibition for our Sydney-based alumnae.

All parents at the School are automatically members of the P&F Association, and we welcome your involvement in P&F and Parent Support Group activities and events. Two meetings are held each term and dates for these can be found on the Events Calendar on the School’s website. These are open meetings and all are welcome to attend.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday.
