The University of Queensland Chinese Writing Competition 2023

This year, nine of our Chinese language students participated in the The University of Queensland (UQ) Chinese Writing Competition 2023. There were more than 70 entries in this competition, which is held annually, amongst schools from throughout Queensland. Students write their submissions in Chinese on topics provided by UQ that range from 50 characters in Year 7 to 1000 characters in Year 12.

Three of our students received the following awards:

  • Year 8 Native Speaker section, third place—Lara Ho (8M)
  • Year 9 Non-native Speaker section, first place—Annabelle Abrahams (9G)
  • Year 11 Native Speaker section, second place—Elizabeth Yan (11G)

These students will receive a certificate and a prize provided by the UQ School of Languages and Cultures and the Confucius Institute. All of the students who entered the competition should be very proud of their efforts, and we hope to see even more students participating next year.
