Chinese New Year at BGGS

Welcome to the year of the Ox! Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival (春节), began on Friday 12 February and was a beautiful celebration of Chinese culture. The traditions of Chinese New Year stem from the story of the Chinese zodiac and the story of Nian. The Chinese zodiac story is the reason the Lunar New Year changes animals every year. Many Chinese New Year traditions, like wearing red, firecrackers, and loud music celebrations, all originate from the story of Nian.

The BGGS Chinese Club celebrated with a feast of Chinese dishes such as delicious spring rolls, dim sims, curry parcels and iced tea. It was a very joyous celebration. If you would like to partake in Chinese festivities such as this, join us in Chinese Club every Monday lunch in C407.
