Award-Winning Alumna, Fiona Qiu (2017), Returns to BGGS

On Monday 12 October, students and staff were gifted an extraordinary musical experience when alumna and violinist, Fiona Qiu (2017), and pianist, Oscar Wong, visited the School to perform a lunchtime concert. Fiona was recently awarded the prestigious Ena Williams Award for Postgraduate Study Overseas Major Bursary of $40 000. Fiona’s musical connection with Oscar (2017 winner of the Lev Vlassenko Piano Prize) was apparent during the duo’s performance of the Strauss Violin Sonata, Op.18. Oscar further dazzled the audience with a rendition of the highly virtuosic La Campanella by Paganini, arranged by Franz Liszt.

We wish Fiona all the best with her phenomenal musical journey, and thank her and Oscar for their generous performance.
