Grammar Girls Showcase Musical Talents in Upcoming Gala Concert

Ode to Joy Gala Recording
On Sunday 23 August, the Instrumental Music Department completed the sixth and final day of video and audio recordings that will culminate in the presentation of the 2020 Ode to Joy Gala Concert video in early Term 4.

Working with a professional film company and audio engineers, the girls rose to the occasion admirably throughout this process and the Instrumental Music Staff are incredibly proud of their wonderful musical achievements. Gala will showcase performances by the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Chamber Singers, Chorale, Grammar Singers, Symphonic Winds and Big Band. Additionally, in a first for Gala, every band, string orchestra and core choir at BGGS will be featured in three unique massed items, totalling more than 880 student performers.

Thank you to all students, staff and families, who have devoted their time to this special Gala project. We look forward to presenting this new Gala experience with the BGGS community.

String Collaborations with BGS
BGGS Strings have enjoyed enriching and exciting collaborations with Brisbane Grammar School (BGS) over the past week. Elgar, Dvorak, Copland, Bartok, Albinoni and Vivaldi Strings all worked on a combined piece culminating in a video recorded performance. These fantastic recordings will be released on Minerva. A particularly special highlight included Bartok Strings joining with Grammar Philharmomic, BGS’s Symphony Orchestra.
