Instrumental Music Update

The corridors of the Instrumental Music Department have been buzzing over the past two weeks as students commenced rehearsals and lessons. We welcomed more than 170 Year 7 girls into the fold as they too commence their music learning at BGGS. Record numbers of choristers have attended the Junior Choirs already this year and the Senior Music Camp at the end of Week 1 was an opportunity for our more experienced musicians to come together in preparation for some very special signature events in Term 1.

2021 Senior Music Camp

The Senior Music Camp comprised students in Chamber Strings, Chamber Singers, Mendelssohn Strings, Symphonic Winds and the Symphony Orchestra. An intense weekend of rehearsing and team building took place and evening activities were led by our enthusiastic Music Captains: Mae Walker (12E) (Band); Serena Choo (12M) (Choir); and Julie Lu (12G) (Strings). With an assembly performance beautifully delivered by Symphonic Winds in Week 2 and the International Women’s Day Concert to be presented in Week 6, the Senior Music Camp was an excellent opportunity for our senior musicians to reconnect and prepare for these important musical events.

Ensembles and Lessons

All ensembles, group and private lessons, and chamber groups are rehearsing, but it is never too late to join the program. The Instrumental Music page on Minerva provides access to information regarding the programs on offer and details to assist students who might be interested in starting an instrument for the first time.

Music Support Group Welcome and Meeting

The Music Support Group and Instrumental Music staff are delighted to invite music parents to a special welcome event on Wednesday 17 February. The evening will start with an informal opportunity, over wine and cheese, to meet other music parents as well as staff prior to the first MSG meeting for 2021.
