2019 National Band Championships
Congratulations to Imogen Playford (11H), Amelia Vanderstoep (11L), Eva Seet (11B) and Rebecca Groves (12H) who participated as part of the Queensland Youth Orchestra Wind Ensemble at the Yamaha Australian National Band Championships last month. This outstanding group of musicians received first place in their division, which was a highly competitive section.

String Quartets performances
Members of the School’s various String Quartets have been busy providing much appreciated musical accompaniment to special events within the Girls Grammar community. Thank you to Chloe Lee (11O), Julie Lu (10G), Emily Ho (12E) and Angelina Hsu (11W) for performing at the recent naming of the Elizabeth Jameson Research Learning Centre.
Well done to Hannah Kim (11M), Mia Li (11R) and Margot Marshall (11W) who provided musical entertainment to complement the ‘Secret Garden’ theme of the Year 12 Formal as guests arrived on Saturday night.

Good luck to Eilish Chopra (10W), Samantha Atherton (10L), Caitlin Mikli (10H) and Sophie Shan (10E) who have the honour of providing musical accompaniment at The Order of Australia Association, Queensland branch celebratory welcome lunch on Friday 10 May 2019. Thank you to our students for sharing their time and talents in order to make these events even more memorable.
Guitar Workshop
On Tuesday 7 May 2019, guest guitar clinician, Ms Angelina Ellis, visited Girls Grammar to work with members of the School’s Guitar program. Ms Ellis provided a detailed masterclass with a focus on rhythm and subdivision. She also gave tips on stylistically appropriate instrument-specific techniques. The students were engaged and developed their skills as a result of her work.

Entertainment Books
The Music Support Group is selling Entertainment Books to fundraise for the Instrumental Music Department. Subscriptions are available to preview online via the Music fundraising page with the option to buy the digital version or hard copy. Once the books are available for collection Administrative Assistant—Music, Mrs Elizabeth Worth, will contact families who ordered hard copies.
