Violinists Learn from Internationally Renowned Musician

Brisbane Girls Grammar School’s Music Department welcomed world-renowned violinist, Barnabás Kelemen, to the School on Friday 9 March 2018.

The Hungarian musician led a masterclass with four student violinists (pictured below), which was observed by students from Chamber Strings, Vivaldi Strings and Albinoni Strings.

Mr Kelemen’s visit was a unique educational experience for the strings students and staff. Mr Kelemen is celebrated as one of the leading violinists of his generation, and plays regularly as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician at many international musical venues and festivals.

The students performed admirably and received valuable feedback on their technique and musicality. The masterclass was followed by a Q&A with Mr Kelemen, where students had the opportunity to ask Mr Kelemen questions about his career and knowledge of music.

Strings Captain, Olivia Dalton, concluded the event with a vote of thanks and gave Mr Kelemen a distinctly Australian gift of a necktie decorated with Aboriginal artwork.

The School thanks Mr Kelemen for taking the time to share his wisdom and expertise with students.
