P&F Association Term 3 Update

For the P&F Association (P&F), Term 3 started with preparations for Open Day. Our new stall location outside Main Building enabled the P&F to be thrust into the midst of the activity and engage readily with the Girls Grammar community, particularly the incoming Year 7 cohort. I hope everyone who attended enjoyed the carnival-like atmosphere on campus and I thank all our Support Groups and the School’s Communications and Engagement team for their tremendous support.

Year 12 students sat the final Queensland Core Skills (QCS) examination two weeks ago. We know our girls were excited yet focused going into the exams and wish them all the best for their results. The P&F took this opportunity to hold a ‘CU QCS’ Morning Tea for all BGGS Staff and were delighted with the attendance. This small event allowed the P&F to thank Staff on behalf of the parents for the daily support and assistance they provide to the School, and in turn, our daughters.

A highlight for the P&F has been the launch of the P&F Uniform Shop’s Web Store. The Web Store is being rolled out initially to current Year 11 students to order their Year 12 textbooks this term, ahead of the rest of the School. This will provide the P&F Uniform Shop the opportunity to ensure the system is working smoothly and effectively prior to School-wide release later in 2019. Only Year 11 and Year 12 Textbook items are currently available, and Clothing, Supporter Products and other Year Level items will be available toward the end of 2019. The production of this platform has been a mammoth undertaking, involving many clever minds. Many thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to bring this wonderful asset to life, in particular Mrs Rebecca Goodman from the P&F Uniform Shop who has been so passionate about the project.

Our Support Groups have again been extremely busy this term. Highlights include the Old Girls Association’s presentation at the Grammar Women: Leaders and Game Changers event, The Rowing Support Group’s support of Head of the River, and of course, the magnificent Mothers Group Spring Lunch, hosted by the Mothers Group two weeks ago at the stunning Howard Smith Wharves.

Congratulations to the Mothers Group and President, Ms Julie Norris, on a stunning and very fun day, which provided some much-needed downtime to Grammar mothers, and raised more than $34 000 for the new Health and Physical Education space in the School’s new Science Learning Centre. Earlier this week, the Fathers Group hosted their sell-out Father and Daughter Dinner at Victoria Park Golf Complex, which included a lively Family Feud style quiz in which the Fathers Group competed against current students. Congratulations to the Grammar girls who narrowly defeated the Fathers Group team in what was a hilarious game of trivia.

Join the P&F in 2020

With only two P&F Meetings left on the calendar this year, we turn our thoughts to 2020. We are currently seeking interest from parents to join the P&F Executive Committee, and in particular are looking to fill the roles of Treasurer and Secretary. Further information on these roles can be found on the School’s Parent Portal.

All parents at the School are automatically members of the P&F Association, and we welcome your involvement in P&F and Parent Support Group activities and events. Two P&F meetings are held each term and dates for these can be found on the Events Calendar on the School’s website. These are open meetings and all are welcome to attend.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday.

Mrs Susan Playford
P&F Association President
